Abby and Graham met just before Covid hit. While the relationship was new, the two had a feeling and took the leap, moving in together in March of 2020 to Abby’s parents house in Chatham. As Abby said, “We fell in love on the Cape”. Chatham Bars Inn had always been Abby’s dream wedding destination since she was a little girl and indeed there was no place more perfect for the couple to wed than this extraordinary seaside resort in the place where they fell in love.
We started our day with Abby and Graham as they finishing getting ready for their first look. All hands of family and friends were on deck to zip zippers, straighten seams and jeuje the details. Abby first enjoyed a reveal with her maids on honor. The elegant ladies dressed in ebony gowns applauded and cooed as our beautiful bride emerged from the dressing room in a stylish Ines de Santo gown that fit like a glove. Next it was a first look with her dad before heading out to see Graham. Bride and groom met on the cedar plank beach walk beside the water and enjoyed a quiet moment together before a lovely portrait session with the wedding party and heading off to the Ketubah signing.
Guests arrived and settled into the shaded and grassy area just off of the beach. Facing the lushly decorated chuppah, family and friends could see the ocean just behind, complete with sailboats gliding by and the glimmer water. Bride and groom were walked down the aisle by their parents, stood under the canopy, made their vows and finally smashed the glass to cheers and sealed it with a kiss… or two… or three.
Next was on to the celebration. While guests enjoyed sipping cocktails, conversation and a watercolor sunset, the sailcloth tent was waiting. Anemones and fresh greenery adorned the centers of the long tables along with gold touched chargers and glassware. Candles were lit and rattan lantern hung above the dining area and dance floor, ready to set the mood. Guests entering the tent, collected glasses of bubbly at the champagne wall and it was time to toast the new Mr and Mrs. As Abby and Graham entered, they were already dancing and took to the floor for a beautiful first dance. After a wonderful dinner, loving toasts and a heartfelt thank you form the newly married couple, the dance floor was open. Chairs were raised, celebration, dancing and music filled the tent and confetti fell as the band played on.
