Kate and Spencer met in 2017 while leading canoe trips for students in the University of Vermont’s Outing Club. A year later, they thru-hiked Vermont’s 273-mile Long Trail together as close friends. One month after finishing the trail, their friendship turned into something more with their first kiss.
Seven years later, they gathered their favorite people in New Hampshire for a full three-day wedding weekend. Mount Chocorua — a place dear to both their families — set the backdrop for the celebration. From the welcome party to the “Day at the Lake” at Kate’s family home to the wedding itself, every moment was thoughtfully planned to make the most of the location and the company.
For the wedding day, the Preserve’s mix of fields, trees, and stone walls reflected everything Kate and Spencer love about the outdoors — simple, natural, and timeless. The day flowed effortlessly between spaces: a ceremony among the trees, cocktail hour on the brick pavilion and barn deck, dinner and speeches under a glowing sailcloth tent, and dancing back up in the barn.
As for personalization, Kate’s art and creativity touched some of the loveliest details of the day — from the menus and signage to a hand-painted seating chart map of Vermont. Her original poem, featured on the backs of the menus and read aloud during the ceremony, became one of the most memorable moments. Spencer’s family contributed their own creations as well: handmade wooden boxes crafted by his father, filled with dice for the family’s favorite game, “Bones.”
Kate and Spencer, your wedding weekend was absolutely lovely. I hope your films bring you the best memories from your celebration for many years to come.
