Erin and Matt first met in 2018 while living in Connecticut for work. Coincidentally, they had both moved to the area two years earlier and even worked in the same office complex. Despite having a mutual friend, their paths didn’t cross—until they matched on Tinder! Their first messages were about their shared love of books, and that connection stuck. They’ve always loved getting lost in a bookstore or simply reading together at home. They also discovered they shared a similar sense of humor—Matt was actually the only guy Erin matched with who could genuinely make her laugh.
The couple chose the Providence Public Library for their ceremony and celebration because they wanted something with personality—and what could be more perfect than a library? It was the ideal nod to their love of books (they even took their engagement photos in the Harvard Book Store in Cambridge, where they now live!). Erin’s best friend used to work at the Providence Public Library and recommended it to them. As soon as they saw it, they were hooked. It was such a unique venue—and that’s exactly what they were looking for.
Erin and Matt were most excited about their first look and sharing their vows. They decided to write their own and read them privately to each other during that quiet, just-the-two-of-them moment. The day also held deep personal meaning. Erin lost both of her grandfathers in the months leading up to their engagement, so they included a few special tributes throughout the celebration. Erin carried pins on her bouquet with photos from her grandparents’ weddings—each couple was married for over 50 years—and during the ceremony, their relatives placed roses in honor of the loved ones they were missing.
On a more playful note, the couple added fun, personal touches throughout the day. Cocktail napkins featured quirky facts about how they met, and their programs had a newspaper theme—a nod to Erin’s time working at a newspaper when they met. They also had bookmark favors (naturally!) and a photo booth guest book to capture fun memories with their guests.
Erin and Matt, thank you for having us with you at your very sweet and fun wedding! It was absolutely our pleasure to capture it!
