Kate & Jonathan ~ A Timeless and Elegant Wedding at Wequassett in Harwich Port, MA

Kate and Jonathan met in 2019 at a Summer solstice party hosted by mutual friends. Both were working in DC and traveled in the same circles on Capitol Hill but Kate famously ignored Jonathans emails after that first meeting. Undeterred, Jonathan spent the first few months of the pandemic sliding into Kate DMs and they finally went out a few times in 2020 but things just didn’t work out. Fast forward to NYE and after a bit too much champagne, Kate tipsy FaceTimed Jonathan and the game was back on. The conversations moved from DMs and email to phone calls but things moved slowly. Finally a year after their first date, the same friends that had the Summer solstice party threw another soirée. Kate saw Jonathan on the guests list and texted to see if he was going. Jonathan immediately called Kate to ask her if she would like a ride. As Kate tells it, the moment she got in the car that night, there was electricity. By the time Thanksgiving rolled around, they were planning a trip to Italy together.

The two chose the Wequassett for its classic, American, costal vibe. There were lovely touches added to their ceremony including their close friend officiating, personal vows and the inclusion of a Lasso Ceremony, a family tradition representing Jonathan Mexican heritage. The lasso had been in the family since the late 1800 and was brought to the United States by Jonathan’s grandparents. For the celebration, personalizations included a table with framed photos of their parents and grandparents as well as signature drinks; spicy Margarita for the bride and Negroni for the groom. For the reception, after wonderful toasts from family and friends and a heartfelt thank you from the bride and groom, dinner was served and the dance floor was open!
